Gua Sha Therapy
Gua sha scraping technique to break up stagnation, relieve chronic pain, and promote healthy circulation.
About this service
What is Gua Sha Therapy?
Gua sha is a traditional East Asian healing technique where a smooth-edged tool is pressed and stroked firmly along the skin to break up stagnant blood and energy beneath the surface. This controlled friction creates a mild redness (called 'sha') that indicates improved circulation to the area — it is not a bruise and fades within days. The technique is highly effective for chronic muscle tension, fibromyalgia, and areas where standard massage cannot reach deep enough. Combined with therapeutic massage in our sessions, gua sha provides a comprehensive treatment for stubborn, long-standing pain and restriction. Many clients notice lasting relief after just a few sessions.

What to expect
Your visit, step by step
Oil is applied to the treatment area before the gua sha tool is used. Strokes are firm but controlled — you may feel heat building in the area as circulation increases. Redness or petechiae (small red spots) may appear and typically clear within 3–5 days. This is a therapeutic response, not damage. Your therapist will combine gua sha with massage for a complete session.
